free yourself from every day bs
Magic is something that happens, when you create energy using tools that reflect the kind of energy you wish to create, all while focussing on the outcome. Let’s say you were to create a self love ritual, you could take a clear jar and place some dried rose petals and rose quartz in it, anoint it with sweet vanilla oil and then seal it with a pink ribbon. The colours and gem stones represent love as does the sweet scent of vanilla and roses. The action of making it is important. You wouldn’t just chuck it altogether as you would while making a sandwich feeling hangry. You would take your time and lovingly create it whilst listening to music or watching your favourite film. That means that it’s important to focus on your intention and really believe that what you are doing right now has a positive energetic effect. Every time you look at the jar, you are reminded of self love. That can become ingrained in your brain so the thought of being good to yourself can really become a habit. And this can only be positive.
how does it work?
I’m a science girl and I like everything to be backed up with facts but sometimes, creating a little magic can be a fun exercise. If done regularly, you might really start inviting new things into your life. The key is to practice magic like you practice pilates 🙂 the more you do it, the stronger it can get. It can rewire your brain into more positive thinking and strengthen your belief in your own abilities. That’s what it’s all about.
“What you think, you become.
What you feel, you attract.
What you imagine, you create.”
Buddha
If you, like me, believe in magic, here’s a little ritual you anytime you feel the need
What you need
- Get yourself a small ceramic bowl
- A candle
- Some incense if you have some. Alternatively you can use an oil burner to scent the room.
- Adorn your magical space with flowers, gem stones, images or other precious items if you wish
Set the mood
- Dim the light
- Put some relaxing music on
- Make sure it’s quiet and you won’t be disturbed
make magic
- Write down all the negative crap that bothered you this year on a piece of paper. Any annoying colleagues, or grumpy people around you, any mishaps, perhaps you’re frustrated with your job, your love life…all of this belongs on that paper.
- Take a few deep breaths and focus on letting go of all negativity.
- Put the paper in the bowl and burn it. Know that all the bs that you wrote down is dead and gone forever. It’s literally all gone up in smoke.
- You can sit and mediate for a few minutes in those new positive energies 🙂
This is a good practice to do at the end of a tiresome day, week, month or anytime you want to get rid of something. Especially at the end of the year 🙂
Happy magic making!
