Hot Apple With Spices
I’m a big tea, matcha and occasional coffee drinker. I also love to experiment with ingredients. I altered this mulled cider recipe that I found on Pinterest and I thought I’d share with you. It’s a nice alternative to the regular tea with milk and sugar you might enjoy in the afternoon, but instead of the biccies you get some warm apple slices. It’s fruity, refreshing, a little zesty, spicy, warming, low in calories and so delish! Oh and it’s alcohol free. Perfect for the whole family 🙂
here’s what you’ll need
- 1 ripe apple
- anis star
- cinnamon stick
- cloves
- couple of tea bags
options
- add some dried pomegranate flowers
- sweeten with honey, maple syrup or brown sugar
- for more natural sweetness: boil only 500ml of water and when it simmers, add some apple juice (no bits) to it. It’s super tasty!
- for more zest: add other dried fruits such as apricots, candied lemons or oranges.
how to make it
- peel the apple and cut it into slices
- put the apple slices and all other spices into a big pot and fill it with 1l of water
- boil the water
- add the tea bags and let it simmer on low temperature for about 10mins
- serve with some apple slices
